Background knowledge courses for translators and interpreters
Accurate translation and interpreting depends on understanding the subject, not only the words. This page collects domain training built for language professionals rather than for practitioners of the field itself — introductions to how a legal system is structured, how clinical trials work, what appears on a financial statement, or how a manufacturing process fits together. The aim is comprehension deep enough to make confident terminological and register decisions, without requiring a second degree. Courses are often taught by people who work in both worlds: lawyers who translate, doctors who interpret, engineers who write technical documentation. Formats vary from single explanatory webinars to structured series covering a whole domain. Skilliga is a free, volunteer-run directory with no paid listings.
